Selling fragrance online presents a few problems, some more obvious than others. Fragrance is highly personal and scent doesn’t travel through a screen.
IRL, people usually encounter Otts & Kulcha candles in person. They pick up a vessel that draws their hand, turn it in the light, and then encounter the fragrance. Surface, weight, and scent all arrive at the same moment.
Online, that experience has to be approached differently. We've outlined our fragrance notes and scent families, but Otts & Kulcha has always been a little cinematic: objects that feel like they belong to a place, a landscape, or a moment in time. A vintage bar late at night. A quiet room at dawn. A desert horizon in open air.
So instead of asking visitors to choose a fragrance only by description, we built a small quiz based on images: spaces, landscapes, and ceramic surfaces. The idea is simple. Follow your instincts and see where you end up.
The result pairs one of our atmospheres with a ceramic patina, leading to a candle poured specifically for you.
